Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly filed a patent to develop roller screens that can be expanded or contracted by users at the ends to make the display large or small as per their requirement for future iPhones and iPads, according to Apple Insider.
This concept may not surface in this year’s iPhone 15 launch but could potentially be introduced in 2024 when Apple’s foldable iPad is expected to be launched. The display may be wrapped around one or more rollers, making it a compact electronic device with desired features, according to the patent application titled “Electronic Device With Flexible Display Structures,” as cited in the Apple Insider report.
There are recurring mentions of its potential use in various devices, such as a cellular telephone, tablet computer, wristwatch device, etc., and the patent application illustrates the potential compactness of a roller system. Furthermore, Apple has been experimenting with the idea of foldable devices as per the previous patent application in March.
