The SEC’s decision to sue Binance, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has drawn criticism from digital asset investor Anthony Scaramucci, co-founder of SkyBridge Capital. The SEC is suing Binance and its founder Changpeng Zhao for deception, conflicts of interest, and evasion of US law. Scaramucci believes that SEC Chairman Gary Gensler is supporting anti-crypto Senator Elizabeth Warren and calls their partnership a mistake for the country. According to Scaramucci, the SEC is displaying a desire to make cryptocurrency exchanges illegal in the US. He also criticized the regulatory body for quoting an old statement from a Binance employee, saying the situation is more serious than the quote implies. Scaramucci suggests that the SEC’s decision could be detrimental to the US’ aim to lead the world in finance, especially in the digital asset space, where regulation is becoming more necessary.
