CENTENNIAL, CO, May 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Colorado SKIES Academy (CSA) has selected Christa Coryell as the interim school director. Ms. Coryell served in various roles since the school’s inception, including four year’s experience as the CSA Board Chair. Ms. Coryell stated, “I am excited to continue collaborating with our CSA stakeholders and community to create educational opportunities for children that are innovative, engaging, and rigorous and encourage them to follow their dreams.”
Christa’s earned extensive experience in corporate finance over almost 20 years in various areas at IBM. Her volunteer work with IBM and direct involvement in her son’s activities has provided her with extensive experience working with school-aged children. As a Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-TECH) mentor to high school students in the St. Vrain Valley School District, and she co-chaired the Discover Engineering and Innovation Academy partnerships between IBM and local schools in the Boulder area.
Christa earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a finance emphasis from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Arizona State University. She possesses in-depth knowledge of the school’s staff, students, and community making her the perfect candidate for interim school director.
Ms. Coryell will oversee the school’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for success. The school board of directors stated, “We are thrilled to have Christa stepping into this role. Her passion for education, combined with her deep understanding of Colorado SKIES Academy will help us continue to provide our students with the best possible learning experience.”
The board is conducting a thorough search and will find the best candidate for a permanent school director. As the acting director, Ms. Coryell will support the current Director of Aerospace, Outreach, and Data, Meredith Motley, in preparing the school for a successful 2023-2024 academic year.
Colorado Skies Academy provides a hands-on, project-based curriculum through the lens of aviation and aerospace to all learners in grades 6-8. The tuition-free public charter school is based at Centennial Airport and forms through community members in partnership with the Maker Learning Network. The learning model promotes individualized instruction, active learning methods, and opportunities for self-directed learning.
