Using HDL’s high-precision position and map information to determine collision risk

Commsignia Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation have formed a partnership to jointly deliver Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology that combines Commsignia’s V2X solution with Mitsubishi Electric’s High-Definition Locator (HDL). The V2X platform will improve safety for advanced-driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous-driving systems. Governments are rightly considering V2X technology as a mandatory communication technology for commercial vehicles. The partnership aims to deliver commercial V2X solutions capable of contributing to increasingly safe assisted and autonomous-driving solutions.
Commsignia’s V2X solution is an advanced integration of communication software, security functions, and application software, with a scalable and optimized software structure that conforms to the next-generation vehicles. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Electric is already mass-producing HDL systems that provide accurate vehicle location information based on high-precision positioning and mapping data for roads and lanes, and around-moving vehicles.
The partnership aims to combine Commsignia V2X’s solution with Mitsubishi Electric’s HDL information to develop systems capable of efficiently detecting conditions in vehicle beds and raising the precision of warnings for potential vehicle collisions. The solution, by identifying the exact positions of adjacent vehicles and confirming their respective lanes, is highly efficient in less weather visible places where nothing is visible to the driver. This partnership will enable the reduction in the number of false alarms, thereby providing timely, valid warnings that offer drivers additional reaction time.
Further, Commsignia and Mitsubishi Electric will separately develop two V2X safety features, Day2 and Day3. The Day2 solution will allow near vehicles to share data from their on-board sensors, such as cameras, while the Day3 solution will encourage cooperative control between adjacent vehicles.
Commsignia has expertly focused on V2X technology research and its application since 2012, developing end-to-end solutions, including the state-of-the-art sensor data sharing middleware and applications to support assisted and autonomous driving vehicles’ latest smart city deployments and functions. On the other hand, Mitsubishi Electric corpora on is a worldwide leader in electrical and electronic equipment manufacture, with over 100 years of experience in delivering reliable and high-quality products used for communication, processing and carrying information, satellite communication, energy, industrial technology, consumer electronics, transportation and building equipment.
