Parshva Rajendra Shah is an expert Health Actuary who has distinguished himself as a Principal with Mercer, leveraging more than a decade of experience. He specializes in assisting employers in creating health and welfare programs that comply with their total rewards goals and principles. In addition to being a Lead Actuary, overseeing financial work for clients, he also works as a Tech ‘Horizontal’ Surveys Lead and Tech Disruptor. In this position, he is the primary owner of various healthcare cost and total rewards surveys in the high-tech (and broader tech) sector, and leads strategic discussions with Mercer’s clients and prospects around the world. He also serves as the Actuarial/Financial recruitment lead on campuses for Mercer’s West Zone, which covers over seven offices. Mr. Shah’s achievements include taking first place in the 2019 Mercer Excel Competition, earning an Excel Wizard award.
Mr. Shah had actuarial internships at M/s. K. A. Pandit Consultants & Actuaries, Buck, and Deloitte. In college, he also served as a math tutor for NCAA athletes at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was President of the Actuarial Science Club. After graduation, he worked at WTW, Milliman, and Deloitte before joining Mercer in 2018.
Aside from his primary career, Parshva Rajendra Shah also lends his expertise to the Society of Actuaries by working with the organization’s Actuary of the Future section. Additionally, he serves as an advisory board member for St. Dunstan Catholic School and is dedicated to civic advocacy.
Prior to starting his professional journey, Mr. Shah earned a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science and received his Private Pilot License from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2007. He is well-qualified in his area of expertise and has a life and health insurance license from the California Department of Insurance.
In the coming years, Mr. Shah aims to participate in more external events at Mercer and continue to grow in his career. He credits much of his professional success to the support he received from his parents, who instilled in him a strong value for education. His mother taught him math, while his father served as a dean/principal and statistics professor for a college in India. When Parshva decided to study Actuarial Science in the US, no bachelor’s or master’s degree programs existed for the field in India. His parents created such programs under the banner of DSACTED, enabling aspiring actuaries to pursue a career in actuarial science without leaving India.
