During his 45-year career, Mr. Arendal excelled in the fields of law and analytics, and was a respected attorney and analyst until his retirement in 2005. He was involved in advising Democratic presidential candidates such as Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry.
Mr. Arendal began his career by serving as a military pilot for his native Denmark from 1959 to 1965, including training in Canada. He went on to work as a systems analyst for SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) and Lufthansa Systems from 1965 to 1971. He then joined the European Space Organization, where he worked as a mathematician and systems analyst until 1975.
For two decades, Mr. Arendal was dedicated to The World Bank, where he worked as a financial analyst until 1995. He then shifted his focus to law and worked for the Office of the Counsel to the President, Gore 2000 & Democratic National Committee, and the Center for Working Capital, AFL-CIO. In his most recent position, Mr. Arendal worked as the financial officer for John Kerry’s presidential campaign from 2003 to 2004.
Mr. Arendal holds a Bachelor of Science in computer management and artificial intelligence from the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the American University College of Law. He attributes his success to his intelligence and multilingual skills, as he speaks Danish, English, and German. In his retirement, he enjoys swimming and staying active.
