Dr. Richard Grylls has joined TBGA as an industry veteran in metal additive manufacturing. He was previously the Chief Engineer for Additive Technology at Beehive Industries, where he developed innovative metal AM processes and qualified products for critical industries. Dr. Grylls holds 23 U.S. patents, with 2 pending applications, and has authored 25 technical papers.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy and Science of Materials from The University of Oxford and a Ph.D. in Metallurgy from The University of Birmingham, UK.
Dr. Grylls believes that metal additive manufacturing has reached a critical mass and a transition into full-scale, affordable, qualified production. He sees The Barnes Global Advisors (TBGA) as a group aligned with his vision to help organizations in their additive manufacturing journey, and he believes it’s the perfect opportunity to bring his experience to maximize the benefit to the AM community.
TBGA President John Barnes is thrilled to have Dr. Richard Grylls join the team. Their relationship goes back several years when Barnes purchased an Optomec LENS system from Grylls’ team over a decade ago. Barnes believes that Grylls’ knowledge and experience in metal additive manufacturing will strengthen their technical and strategic capabilities, enabling them to better support customers in their pursuit of AM excellence.
