ROCKY MOUNT, NC, September 15, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Victor Lawe has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who for his outstanding contributions in the field of environmental health and safety. With years of professional expertise in environmental health and safety, Mr. Lawe is currently excelling as a Safety Officer with the City of Rocky Mount. Since taking on this role in 2018, he has been responsible for various safety-related tasks, including inspections, safety training, hazard identification, and workers’ compensation oversight. He also chairs the City Safety Committee and the City Vehicle Accident Review Board, and serves on the Health and Wellness Committee and the Emergency Management Coordinating Committee. Prior to joining the City of Rocky Mount, he held positions as the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager, Continuous Improvement Manager, and Production Manager with Berry Global Inc. During this time, he gained expertise in extrusion management, team coordination, and field supervision.
Before his career in the private sector, Mr. Lawe served in the United States Army from 1987 to 1997. He was deployed in Germany and participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon returning from his deployment, he held various roles in the Army, including tank platoon leader, signal platoon leader, company executive officer, headquarters company executive officer, and battalion maintenance officer. In addition to his military service, Mr. Lawe contributed to his community as a first responder with Peninsula Packaging Company, Solo Cup Company, Alcoa Howmet Castings, and La Porte County EMS. He has also authored several publications, including “How Automation Can Accelerate Your Safety Program,” which was published by the National Safety Council Public Eye on Safety.
As an expert in his field, Mr. Lawe pursued further education, completing coursework in mass communications and media studies at Iowa State University. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of the District of Columbia, a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, and various certifications through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He has received several honors for his work, including being named a Survivor Advocate and a three-time Safety Ambassador by the National Safety Council, as well as receiving Safety Challenge Coins from the City of Greenville, the City of Rocky Mount, and the Rocky Mount Fire Department. For his service in the military, Mr. Lawe has been honored with five Army Achievement Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, Army Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, NATO Service Medal, and many more.
While Mr. Lawe’s career is filled with notable achievements, he is most proud of his success in reducing the City’s incident rate by 70% throughout his career, implementing an automated incident reporting system, conquering his fear of heights, and obtaining his parachutist badge. He attributes his overall success to his self-confidence and the support of his family. Moving forward, Mr. Lawe plans to take on more safety-oriented responsibilities and maintain operational efficiency.
